NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
