No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
