Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
