Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
