Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
