Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While competing in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
