Caribbean Poker Codes and Pointers

Web poker has become world famous as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years many types on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than old guard poker, in that the players wager against the casino rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the croupier saying "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other players acquire 5 cards. After you have observed your hand and the bank’s 1st card, you must in turn make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s value is akin to your beginning wager, which means that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your bet goes instantly to the bank. After the wager comes the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus an amount on par with the initial bet. If the bank does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays chips equal to your initial bet and controlled odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
