NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
